Behind Enemy Lines on Week 17 in the NFL

Yo, this is Nicky and we’re in the heat of the NFL week 17 after dropping our first college game in three weeks but hitting on the big lumber favorites New England and Denver in the NFL so let’s stick with what’s working and look to the NFL. In the late game on Sunday I like the CaBoy’s (+3.5 buy the hook if you don’t get it) I know Dallas doesn’t have a great record on week 17 or in “win or go home games but throw out the stats, I think this is a 3-point game either way, and I like the lumber. On the qualitative side if you’re taking the points you have to like the fact that the Skins pass rush will be hampered by injuries and that means they’ll have to stop Dallas with their secondary which is 30th overall in the NFL. That’s the late Sunday chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up!

Behind Enemy Lines at the Beginning of Bowl Week

Yo This Is Nicky back from vacation (and 4 straight wins) and ready to jump head first into bowl season and the final week of the NFL season so let’s get to it! In the Valero Alamo Bowl I like Oregon State (-2.5 buy the hook) against scandal ridden Texas. It’s not just about the Horns’ sending a couple of kids home (one being Case McCoy) but the Beavers can score and have won 9 of their last 12 games, only give up 130 yards on the ground so if Texas doesn’t have their passing attack working it could be a long game for em’. Multiple possessions for a school that averages 33 points per game is kinda big. I understand this will be totally Texas crowd, but that may work against them if they fall behind a couple of scores. That’s the first bowl of a ton of Bowl Season Chowda’ back with the NFL tomorrow, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up!

Behind Enemy Lines on a Critical Sunday

Yo this is Nicky and we’re coming off two consecutive wins so let’s try to keep the mojo going on Sunday. It’s a huge day with several games having major playoff implications so I’m shocked to see so many home dogs. The Bears, Ravens, and Ca’boys are all home dogs in must win games so I think that where we have to look first. Of those three I think the Ravens and Cowboys can win on the field but I don’t like the Ravens’ injury issues on defense so I think Peyton has a chance to carve them up, so I’m going to stay away from that one. I haven’t seen the Bears play well in weeks while conversely the Pack is hitting their stride so although I don’t have the stones to go the other way I’ll just lay off that game, which leaves us with Ca’Boys hosting the Steelers. Both are in a must win to save their season and in games like that I like the home team and the +3.5 (buy the hook) looks too enticing. So I’m going to go with Dallas to save their season or at least keep it within a FG. Don’t bother with the stats on this one as the only trend is going to be survival of the fittest. That’s the early Sunday Chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up!

Behidnd Enemy Lines on Monday Night Football

Yo, this is Nicky and MNF saved the best for last as the Pats are hosting the Texans and it should be a great one so let’s break it down. The Texans have looked quite beatable over the last few weeks and have some injuries in the secondary that Tommy Gun could exploit. Conversely, the Pats also have some injuries offensively in addition to Gronk that could hinder how “the process” works. No Edelman and a banged up Welker means there may not be many targets for Tom to find. The Texans are calling the game “the biggest regular season game in franchise history”, while the Pats have already clinched their division but need this win to stay in the hunt for the first round bye that the Broncos could seal with a win next week against the Ravens, so where does that leave us? Well, with a very tight game that should be within one possession. I’m tempted to take the lumber in a big game like this but that (-6) could be a bear trap, so with the bad weather I’m looking at that over of 51 and thinking that’s its going down harder than Pacman. Look for a couple of DBs pay the price for slipping on the turf that lead to big plays so I’m going over (50.5 buy the hook). That’s the Monday Night Chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up!

Behind Enemy Lines in the SEC Championship

Yo, this is Nicky the Fish and it’s championship time in college football with lots of big games around the country so let’s get to it. In the SEC championship I’m going to go with the upset and take Georgia (+8.5) against Alabama, and play the Dawgs to keep it close. One could argue that the Bulldogs could win this one on the field let alone keep it within a one score cushion. This game jumped out at me as an aberration and I thought the line would come down to earth but its held at close to 9. Georgia is 5-0 over its last 5, and comes in 17th in the nation in scoring so you they can move the ball and put points on the board. I like that the game is in their backyard at the Georgia Dome, it won’t be a home crowd but pretty close. Take the points in the SEC Championship Game. That’s the chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up!

Behind Enemy Lines in the NFL

Yo, this is Nicky and we’re back in action after a decent Saturday of college football. In the early game on Sunday I like the Bengals (+6) at home to play the Broncos close. This is simply a must win play as Cincy has a tough schedule over the next 3 weeks and if they drop two more games in the AFC they can kiss the playoffs goodbye and Marvin Lewis his job as well. The Bengals are a terrible cover team at home that’s true (1-6-1) but that’s because they’re normally laying but not only are they getting lumber today but a huge amount, I like the points. That’s the early Sunday bowl of chowda’ I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up!

Sunday, October 28, 2012

Yo, this is Nicky and we’ve dropped 3 straight for the first time this season and although we’re 83-66 on the year, we haven’t hit our “spotlight” game in a while. But that’s why you never increase your units, keep them all the same, weather the storms, win more than you lose, stay in ring and keep your gloves up! In the late games on Sunday I’m going with the NFC strength in a NFC/AFC mathcup, particularly when the NFC is a dog, so I like the Saints (+7 buy the .5 if you don’t get it) to hang with the Broncos in Mile High. The Saints may be a desperate team but those kinds of teams are often dangerous and they’re getting healthier every day as player and coaches continue to return. I know all about the altitude and the trip across country but that won’t be enough to cover all that lumber. The Broncos are a underwhelming 4-7-1 ATS over their last 12. Keep an eye on the over as well. That’s the chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up!

Saturday, October 27, 2012

Yo This is Nicky and after Detroit didn’t show up on Monday Night we’ve dropped two straight and need to get back in the win column as we’re only 7 games above .500 on the season so let’s get to it. On Saturday evening I love the Sooners (-10.5) against the Irish. I think the Golden Domers are a fraud and have been living on borrowed time and favorable schedule. Much like Ohio State they are the riding the hype wave hoping to stay on the board just long enough to get one big bowl payday, where they usually get whacked. I’d love to wait until that day and load up but I don’t think they’re get that far. OU has much to much speed for ND and although the Irish are better against the run statistically that’s the result of a couple of early games against inferior opponents that padded the stats. OU is 6-1 over their last seven and averages 44 points a game which will be plenty to cover the lumber. That’s the chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up!

Behind Enemy Lines on Sunday Evening

Yo this is Nicky and we got back in the win column in college football as Baylor took care of business for us as our pick of the day and we went over 70% for the college football day, safe to say we’re back on Saturdays. On Sunday evening I’m going to wait all the way until the late game for the POD, and take the OVER (46 buy it down if you don’t get it) in Lions/Bears game. I know this is the NFL’s Norris division and typically black and blue games don’t put big points on the board but this will be different. The total has gone over in 5 of the Lions last 7 games and 6 of Chicago’s last 8 games. I was going back n’ forth on this but the number just to too high for the bears to lay at six points and the weather seems conducive to a big passing night so Megatron could have a big game as could Cutler and the Bears. That’s the Sunday chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up!

Saturday, October 20, 2012

Yo, this is Nicky and we’re actually coming off a loss for the first time in almost five weeks, so we’ve been on a run and it’s time to get back into the win column so let’s get to it. Obviously we’ve laid off college football for a little while as we simply didn’t have a good feel for it and that’s when you need to do when the meal isn’t going down correctly, step away from the table for a while. That said, I do see some value on the board on Saturday and in the Pigskin Pick Em’ contest I’ve done better than 60% on Saturdays so I think we’re ready to tuck the napkin in again. In the late games I like Baylor (+10.5 buy it if you don’t get it) to keep it close against Texas if not win on the field for the third year in a row. I know Texas will be back at home after the Red River Rout last week but that mo’ will be gone after the first quarter and then the reality will set in that they’re just not that good. I know BU has lost some guy that used to play quarterback for them and now is playing on Sundays but they can still change the lights on the scoreboard. Texas is 1-4 ATS over the last 5 when playing Baylor, and only 7-14-1 ATS at home their last 22 games. True one can argue that Baylor is not a good road team (1-6 ATS) but that is a big number for a team to cover that struggles on offense and I don’t think the Horns’ have the firepower to outgun Baylor by two scores. That’s the chowda’ I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up! View All of previous picks here.

Behind Enemy Lines in the NFL Week 6

Yo this is Nicky and we’re coming off another win as the Eagles may have lost on the field but did get our cover for another win. We’re off to a good start this season so let’s keep the Mo’ going. In the afternoon games on Sunday I like the Cards (-4.5 buy the hook) to beat up on the Buffalo Bill who always seem to come up short on D. Zona is a good home team and much better offensively Arizona is 5-0 at home over their last five games and conversely the Bill is 1-9 over their last ten on the road, and 4-10 ATS over their last 14. They won’t be able to handle Fitz on the outside and that doesn’t bode well for the struggling Bills. That’s the afternoon chowder, I’m Nicky, Stay in the ring and keep your gloves up!

Behind Enemy Lines in the MLB Playoffs

Yo, This is Nicky at we’re gonna get out of our comfort zone tonight and jump into a little MLB playoff action. In the late game on Tuesday I like the Oakland A’s to stave off elimination and beat the Tigers at home. Oakland is 6-2 over their last 8 games and 5-0 at home. The crowd, the time change, will both play a factor in game 1.

Behind Enemy Lines in Week 5 of the NFL

Yo, this is Nicky and we’re coming off what was probably our easiest win of the year thus far as the Niners had our cover on the first drive of the game against the Jets and never looked back. We want to keep the Mo’ going on Sunday morning so let’s get to it. In the early games I like the Eagles (+3.5) on the road against the Steelers in the battle for Pennsylvania. No doubt whether the Eagles have the talent, they just haven’t been able to put together a complete game and this is the week they do it. They are still one of the hottest teams in the league as going back to last year they’ve won seven of their last eight games. Pair that with the number that Pittsburgh is only 1-4 ATS over their last 5 and I’m going to take the points in this one. I love a dog that can win on the field and Vick and Co. can. That’s the early morning chowder I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up!

Sunday, September 30, 2012

Yo this is Nicky and now that the strike is over we might have a little more of a level playing field as I can’t help but feel for the guys that gave the number with the Packers and were on their way to the ticket counter when they had the cake taken right off their plate. We ended up in the same boat on Sunday night, obviously not quite as egregiously screwed but just same if that game is played this weekend it’s a different outcome. Anyway, we ended up splitting the weekend because of it so let’s get back into the win column. On Sunday I’m going to take the Bay Area ferry all the way to the bank as I like the both the Niners (-2.5 buy the hook) to go into New Yawk and beat the Jets minus Revis. The Niners have beaten the Jets 6 of their last 7 games and that includes the Mike Singletary eara, things are different now.
I also like the Nasty Raiders (+6) and all their penalties to go into mile high and play the Broncos tough if not win on the field. Despite not being very good the last few years they’ve beaten Denver 4 of the last 5 games in Mile High and have covered in ALL FIVE of those games. These are usually close and I like the Raiders coming off a little momentum after a victory at home against Pittsburgh. That’s the weekend chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up!

Late Evening Chowder on Sunday Evening

Yo, This is Nicky and although it’s still in the 3rd quarter there’s no doubt that the Texans are covering for fun’, I’ve already popped a cold one for this game which moves our record to 7-3 on the season, so it’s time to move on to the late game where I like the Ravens (-2.5 buy the hook) to take the Pats to under .500 on the season. It goes unsaid that there’s a little payback on the minds of the Ravens as they still haven’t gotten over wide right from last year and I look for Ray’s Dogs to take a huge bite out of Tom Terrific and that Swiss Cheese offensive line they have in New England now. The Pats couldn’t protect the Golden Boy against the Titans or the Cards and now they’re going up an even better D in Baltimore. Lastly, the Ravens are 8-3 over their last 11 games including 5-0 their last 5. That’s the late evening chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up!
Yo, This is Nicky and not even I expected Peyton to serve up three interceptions on Monday night but the cover still was a little in doubt in the 4th quarter which does make a case for not watching the game you place on but just checking the number after the game as we got our cover and moved to 6-3 on the year. We’re moving into the dog days of October and need a little cushion so let’s get to it. On Sunday I like the Houston Texans (-1) Strange but I’ve seen this as high as Houston +1 and as low as Houston -2 so a huge arbitrage opportunity if you got in early! But aside from trying to straddle the line, I’m not sure how this betting line is not Houston -6. I know the public loves Peyton at home but the truth is he’s not all that and a bag o’ chips to begin with and he’s just as susceptible to the Mile High Mayhem as the visitors as he’s not completely used to it yet. The Texans D will play similar to Hotlanta’s and give Peyton a ton of trouble. Denver is just not that good. Moreover Houston is 10-4 over it’s last 14 games and 5-2 on the road. That’s the Sunday chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up!

Behind Enemy Lines on Monday Night Football

Yo, This is Nicky and we’ve hit our last two in the NFL with the Ravens keeping it close and almost winning on the field, and the Niners preventing the ‘back door cover’ to move our record to 5-3 on the season so let’s keep the mo’ going. On Monday Night I like the Falcons(-2.5 buy the hook) to hold serve at home against Peyton and the Broncos. The either of Peyton making his return to football, the pomp and circumstance of a home opener, and the altitude of Mile High are all gone and now they’re going to have to deal with a home opener and a home crowd themselves where the Falcons are 5-1 their last six and looked good in week one ( I know it was against the chefs) but a good road victory on opening day just the same. That’s the chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up!

Behind Enemy Lines in the NFL

Yo, this is Nicky and we’re back in the trenches on a football Sunday coming off a touch beat as Mississippi State gave up 17 points in the 2nd half to blow our cover and drop us to 3-3 on the season which is means we’re in the red because of the vig so we’d better get to work. On Sunday I like the Ravens (+3.5 buy the hook) and their new high octane offense to keep it real close against Philly and possibly win it on the field. Philly looked horrible against Cleveland in week one and I do expect them to play better but the Ravens look in mid-season form already and Philly isn’t on par just yet. That’s the early Sunday chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up!

Behind Enemy Lines on College Saturday

Yo, this is Nicky and we’re back at it after that poor excuse for a football game on Thursday Night where we looking for some offence, a little offense, ANY offense from Chicago and Green Bay to get over 50 and didn’t get it, so we dropped to 3-2 on the young season. Now it’s time to get back into the win column so let’s get to it. On Saturday morning I like Mississippi State (-13.5 buy it if your book has it at 14) to beat Troy on the road. I think Louisiana-Lafayette was exposed today for not being able to hang against really tough competition as Ok State really took them to school so that Troy home win now has a bit measuring stick. Miss State has won impressively at home against Jackson St. and Auburn to work the kinks out and now are ready to go on the road. Take Miss St. and lay the heavy lumber. That’s the morning chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up!

Behind Enemy Lines on Monday Night Football

Yo, this Nicky and if I’m not on your payroll by now, I should be as we’ve won three straight games after the Titans easily had our cover in the first quarter and never looked back. That actually was easy pickens but it gets a little more tough on Monday night so let’s get to it. In the early game on Monday night I like the Ravens (-6.5 buy the hook) to start off the season with a win at home. Baltimore has had to live with the memory of “wide right” for a year now and look for them to come out and unleash some real bad attitude on the Bengals. Cincy does have a good defense (top 10) but they will have problems moving the ball against that perennial wall that is Purple Rain. That’s the early evening chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up! I’ll be back for the late game.

Sunday, September 9, 2012

Behind Enemy Lines in the NFL

Yo, this is Nicky and we’re coming off two straight wins as Purdue kept it close against ND well within the 14.5 points we were allotted. That brings our football season record to 2-1 now we need so separation so let’s get to it. On Sunday morning I like the Texans (-12.5 buy the hook) to take out the Dolphins and their rookie quarterback in relatively easy fashion. Houston is among the favorites to take the AFC and had they not been riddled by injuries last year they may have taken it already. They have a balanced attack that only got better over the off season and the fish still have issues on both sides of the ball. That’s the early morning chowder, I’m Nicky, back with more later…..

Behind Enemy Lines in NCAA Football

Yo, this is Nicky and we’re back for more damage this weekend. We evened up our record at 1-1 on the young season by hitting the under in the NYG/Dallas game on Wednesday night. This will be our first full weekend of college and pro games, there’s is a lot on the agenda, so let’s get to it. On Saturday I like Purdue Boilermakers (+14.5 buy the hook) to beat the Irish who are making their first appearance on US soil this season. It’s been highly publicized that the Irish gave up a ton of passing yards to a non-passing school in the Naval Academy and when they match up against a pro-style offense like Purdue’s they could give up even more. This is a game where Purdue could even win this on the field as 372 pass yards in their first contest is a good harbinger that they should be able to keep this one close. That’s the afternoon chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up! Back with more later on today………

Behind Enemy Lines as the NFL Kicks Off

Yo, this is Nicky and we’re still in the trenches of opening week in both college and pro where we got off to a bad start as the Michigan Wolverines choked on all of their pre-season hype and got dismantled by the Tide who covered a HUGE number for a game between two top ten schools. So, as we say let’s stay in the ring and keep our gloves up.
On opening night of the NFL I am going to take the Under (47 buy the hook) between the GMen and Ca’Boys. I know it’s a small line at a field goal but there is no way the Offenses have caught up with the defenses and if we have to pick just one I think the percentages are higher there will not be enough big plays in this game to make up for the lack of ability to drive down the field and sustain drives, than the chances of one team covering the 3. That’s the opening day chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up!

Behind Enemy Lines on Opening Day

Yo this is Nicky the Fish and let me be the first to wish you a HAPPY NEW YEAR! Wow, it seems like just yesterday we were closing out the year with a victory in the National Championship game to close out a great college football season but we can’t rest on our laurels especially this season now that every pick in every sport will be documented on the main site with the Pigskin Pick’em contest (make sure you log in and play) so let’s get to it.

On opening day I am going to not mess with the JV games and get right into the mix with the marquis game of the day I am going to take Michigan (+14.5 buy the hook) going into Tuscaloosa to take on the Tide. I know it’s an SEC home domain on opening day but the NFL draft wasn’t kind to the Tide and they’re going to have to replace a ton of quality on D. Of course, they normally just reload in the SEC but those new bullets may not pack the punch of the previous ones and I’m thinking they may need a game or two to really galvanize. They may pull it out but I like the huge lumber with a Denard Robinson led offense to keep it close. That’s the opening day chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up.

Behind Enemy Line in day time heat of MLB

Yo this is Nicky, and for all of you degenerates whom should be working and instead are on the book in the middle of the week I think we got something for ya. We’re officially on what they call in baseball “a winning steak” as we’ve put away three in a row and I like what I see on the board today so let’s get to it. In short I love it when I see clubs that are at home and are trying to avoid being swept in their cribs. Early on today the Dodgers are at home against a division rival in Arizona whom has taken the first two games of the series. The Dodgers are coming off a sweep of the Giants in which they made up a 4-game deficit with one series but are in danger of giving almost all of it back. I don’t think they will let that happen and the addition of Vitorino who will be in the lineup today should give an added boost of momentum. Corbin who is only 2-4 this year will be on the bump for the DBacks and I think he should be hit well. That’s the afternoon chowder on a Wednesday I’m Nicky, telling you to punch and get out.

Behind Enemy lines in the MLB

Yo, This is Nicky and we're back at work in MLB this weekend. On Sunday afternoon I like the Dodgers (-150) to sweep the Giants. I know San Francisco is really tough at home and it's tough to sweep anyone in the big leagues let alone a division leader but this would be payback for LA who were swept by the GMen last time out. Additionally Clayton Kershaw got rocked last time out so you don't expect him to have two bad outings in a row. Lastly, at AT & T Park he is 4-2 with a microscopic ERA of .97. The Dodgers can take the division lead with a win and CK usually pitches well in big games. That's the chowder, I'm Nicky, Stay in the ring and keep your gloves up!

Behind Enemy Lines in the Post Break MLB

Yo, This is Nicky and we’ve been taking a bit of a break after the NBA Finals but for the second half of the MLB season and heading into football we’ll be here for the rest of the year so let’s buckle up! In MLB this evening I’m going to take the home dog (LA Dogders +104) vs. Philly tonight. It’s Blanton (7-7) vs. Eovaldi (1-5) and I know that’s not a great record but the Dodgers are coming off two straight losses and are hitting the ball much better than before the break and more importantly scoring more runs (or some runs finally). Although Philly is better on the road than at home I don’t think they will be able to score with LA. That’s the chowder, I’m Nicky, reminding you to stay in the ring and keep your gloves up!

Its Do or Die for the Kids from OKC

Yo, this is Nicky and we’ve really started to measure up the NBA Finals, winning our last three picks including the over 191.5 in game 4. Now we’re posed with the question if the Heat are going to close out the Kids tonight and that’s the rub. Normally I take the leader and don’t think twice because the team that’s down knows there’s no way they’re taking three straight but the Thunder are just young enough to not know any better. They actually think if they get the series back to OKC they can still pull this thing off, and you know what? They’re right. If they do get this back to the Thunder Dome they will probably be favorites in games 6 and 7, unfortunately the Heat believe that as well and that’s why they are going to polish this series off at home, tonight. I’m going to take the Heat (-3 buy it if you don’t get it) to get the monkey off their backs and celebrate at home. That’s the chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up!

Behind Enemy Lines in the NBA Finals

Yo this is Nicky and it may have been very stressful down the stretch but we picked up another win in the NBA Finals, and I don’t wanna see any more post a about how stupid it is to buy the hook because that saved us again and you should never let that ½ point take food off your table. Ok, tough one tonight so let’s get to it. In Game 4 I like the over 191.5 (once again buy that hook) as this is OKC’s season and dream tonight and they know it. If they go down 1-3 then go ahead and fit Miami Thrice for rings so they will come out and go down shooting. As well played defensively as last game was it still got close and I expect the Thunda’ to shoot much better in this game. Also the line is 3 so don’t throw OT out of the picture. That’s the chowda’, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up!

Behind Enemy Lines in the NBA Finals

Yo this is Nicky, and these have been some tough games to call but it’s time to get back in the saddle so let’s get to it. As the scene in the NBA Finals shifts to Miami so does the line Miami (-4.5) and I’m going to buy it down to 4 and take the Heat. I think they can see the light at the end of a tumultuous tunnel now that they have home court and will come out on fire defensively and throw an intensity at the kids that they haven’t seen before. Moreover the Thunder do not shoot very well on the road and they will need to do just that as it will be a hostile environment in South Beach waiting for them. That’s the chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up!

Behind Enemy Lines in the NBA Finals

Yo, this is Nicky and we’ve been on a bit of a roll lately hitting two NBA games, Game 6 of the NHL Finals and a first round EuroCup game, so let’s keep the momentum rolling in the NBA Finals. In Game 1 you have to wonder if the lights of the NBA Finals will be too bright for the youngstas’ from OKC even though they’ve played well in the first game of their other series. I don’t think they’ve never seen the type of defensive intensity the Heat are going to throw at them and it will take its toll early in the game. I look for the Heat to get out to the early lead and for the Thunda’s atheism to close the gap in the second half and maybe pull it out in the end. Either way, I think 5 points is too much lumber and I like the Heat plus the number in this one. That’s the chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your glove’s up!

Behind Enemy Lines in Game 5s

Yo, This is Nicky the Fish and we’ve taken as much as we’ve given in this year’s NBA Playoffs and now with a couple of Game 5’s that might as well be Game 7’s we will surely be tested but let’s get to it. On Monday I like OKC (+5.5 buy the hook) to play a close game with the Spurs on the road. They have outplayed the Spurs for 11 of the last 12 quarters and unless San Antonio shoots as well as they did in game 1 and for one quarter in game 2 the Thunda’ should win this one on the court. Either way, I don’t think you will see a ten point cushion again in this series starting with Game 5. That’s the chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up!

Behind Enemy Lines in the NBA

Yo Nicky and we’re having our problems navigating through the mire of the NBA Playoffs but that’s why things always step up in May, and the lines get tougher, but we’re in the ring with our gloves up so let’s get to it. On Friday night I like the Lake Show (+4 buy the hook) to take command of the series against the Nuggets on the road and go up 3-0. I know the Nuggets will score a ton more at home, maybe even ten points, but the mile high air won’t make them grow any more or play any better D so the Lakers will score as well and as long as LA doesn’t get lazy on D and give up a ton of second chance and fast break points the Lakers will keep this within two possessions or win it on the court. That’s the chowder, I’m Nicky, that’s the chowder, stay in the ring and keep your glove’s up!

Behind Enemy Lines in the NBA Playoffs

Yo, this is Nicky and we picked one yesterday as the Grizz finally held onto a lead and evened the series, but we’re still under water in the NBA Playoffs at 1-2 so let’s get to it. In the second game on Thursday evening I like Dallas (-3) to hit their saving throw and keep the series alive. I like the number at 3 because Scott Brooks is a ‘fouler’ and even if this is only a two possession game I look for the Mavs to win it on the court and extend the cover. That’s the chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up!

Behind Enemy Lines in a must win situation

Yo, this is Nicky the Fish and last night I got up to go get a victory brew when the Lakers up 19 points and by the time I finished it was a six point game and we were in a dog fight and got edged by a deuce in the end so the NBA playoffs have not been kind to us thus far so as we’ve been bit by the Orlando upset and although they won, LA didn’t cover. We got some work to do so let’s get to it. On Wednesday night I love the Grizz(-5.5) to even up the series. Obviously, if Memphis drops this game the series is over but nothing can help heal the worst collapse in playoff history better than getting back on the court. Look for the Grizz (and Me!) to get back on the road to recovery tonight. That’s the chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your glove’s up!

Behind Enemy Lines, round 2 in the NBA playoffs

Yo This is Nicky and we’re back in the trenches in the NBA Playoffs and we took the first game on the chin as Orlando really surprised me as well as the rest of the NBA world and took game one. As we move on we see that teams are making some big adjustments ahead of game 2 and it’s paying off as only the Heat have managed to grab a 2-0 lead. However despite the trends I am not going to ride the road team into Staples Center, and go with the Lake Show to cover the six and take a 2-0 lead over Denver. Kobe may have had 30+ points in game 1 but he didn’t play well overall and I look for him to have a huge game in game 2. George Karl can work on the refs all he wants to but he is no Zen master and all the positioning in the world won’t help them in the only pivot that counts, at center where Bynum will reign supreme and actually score in this game. Lakers -5.5 buy the hook. That’s the chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your glove’s up!

Behind Enemy Lines in the NBA playoffs

Yo this is Nicky the Fish and you know I only come out of the house for big games and now that the farce that was the regular season has passed, where teams were coming off of back-to-back-to-back games, or half the club was sick, stars decided they needed a day off, etc. In short, an impossible season to call except for the final week, now at least we know what we’re dealing with so let’s get back to it. On opening Saturday I like the Indiana Pacers (-9 buy the hook) who are not only finally back in the playoffs, but hosting as a number three seed. Orlando is a team on its heels and have not played well since the Super Bowl. Dwight Howard is not happy and nothing would please him more than a first round exit that would surely signal the end of the Ron Jeremy era in the magic kingdom with the exit of Stan Van. This is the beginning of the end and a ruckus crowd in Indy will be a buzzsaw that the Magic will not be ready for. That’s the early Saturday chowder I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your glove’s up!

Behind Enemy Lines in the Big Dance

Yo this is Nicky and we caught with a left hook yesterday and are still reeling but as I have always said, we’re still in the ring and our gloves are up! On Friday night to start the action I love the Baylor Bears (-6 buy the hook) to bring Xavier back down to Earth. They have had an entire week to prepare for this game and will have schemes to deal with their size down on the box. Conversely, I think Baylor will continue to get good looks from outside the arch and build a lead that the X-Men will not be able to catch with their grind-it-out style. That’s the early chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up!

Behind Enemy Lines in the Big Dance

Yo this is Nicky and despite the fact that it’s the toughest event to predict in sports I figure it’s time we start dancing. In the second game on Thursday night I like the Cincinnati Bearcats +7.5 against Ohio State. I know the Big Ten had a good year but I like the size of the Cats and any time I can get a battle tested Big East school going against the B10 I’m going to take it, and the heavy lumber makes it that much better. That’s the first of the tournament chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up!

Behind Enemy Lines at the Super Bowl

Get the up to the minute betting lines and prop bets here.
Yo this is Nicky the Fish and we’ve come the final chapter of the 2011/12 NFL journey. We dropped a few percentage points from the incredible run we had in 2010/11 where we were in the low 70% but we’re above the water mark at 64% so let’s try to end the season on a high note. In Super Bowl 46 I like the rest am not only surprised where the line opened up but that it has held at Pats -3. I know most are taking that number or the money line for that matter, but I’m going to buy it down and lay the lumber (Pats -2.5) here’s why. I don’t want to hear about Pats D, as over the last six weeks of the season and playoffs they’re in the top 10, and give up less points per game than the Gmen do (25 to 21), and have a better run defense. Offensively they throw for more and run for more than NYG and should be able to put up some numbers. I also like the over in this game for some leverage so for only the second time this season the parlay to the over (53.5) is on the table. I expect both these two teams to move the ball and score in bunches, only this time Tom will have the ball last and get the win. 7 of the last 8 NE games have gone over as their offense has been clicking. We hit it the only other time we played it so this will be two-for-two. That’s the last bowl of chowder for the NFL season, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up!

Behind Enemy Lines in the divisional playoffs

********Sunday***********
Yo, this is Nicky and I feels good to get back in the win column as the Niners never needed the points and won on the field. Sunday’s games are a little tougher to call but there is still some value on the board so let’s get to it. In the playoffs points are at a premium particularly in bad weather so it’s really hard to leave those on the board and with a game total of only 37 that means they don’t expect the Texans to get more than 15 points which I don’t think will happen, even though it’s cold (36) the sun is out and a running game will be intact. I like the Ravens to win on the field but 9 points is a ton of lumber in a divisional playoff and I’m going to take the Texans and the points.

In the second game I still shocked at the line. If you look at the big underdogs in the playoffs weekend there was a explanation that justified the number. The Broncos had a QB that had no business taking snaps in a Divisional Playoff Game, the Texans are starting a second string QB for all intent and purposes, but the Giants, who have won playoff games in Green Bay before, are healthier than they’ve been all season and arguably are the hottest team in the NFC right now. I’ve seen them as dogs before and hang close this game is a lot closer than people think and don’t be surprised to see them win on field. I like the GMen (+9.5 buy the hook), there has never been a Divisional weekend where all home teams have won and I think NYG may be the team to win on the road in this one. That’s the chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up!

***********Saturday*************
Yo this is Nicky and we have not played well at the beginning of the NFL Playoffs so we’ve got to try and get our mojo back and this looks like a good weekend to do it, so let’s get to it. On Saturday morning I love the Niners (+4.5 buy the hook) as a home dog hosting the Saints. I think fact that it is there first January football in nine years is solid but moreover in a year where not having a good defense seems to be an excuseable offense, the Niners who are known more for their defense, may have a bit of a cushion for that offense that is not so great. But they will run the ball well today, control the clock, and potentially keep that Saints offense off the field. I like the Niners.

Behind enemy lines in the National Championship

Yo this is Nicky and we took a pretty serious beating over the weekend our first ‘o-fer’ for the year and at a REALLY bad. What can I say, Pittsburgh and Mylanta simply didn’t show up for us so we gotta get back in the positive column so let’s get to it. In the National Championship Game I’ve looked at everything I could to find out why the number is what it is and I can’t see how LSU (+2.5) doesn’t win, what is virtually a home game, against a team they’ve already beat. After what seems like six months to prepare, they can shore what made many say there were outplayed in a game that they won on the field, and if Bama gets behind (they have not trailed in a game all year, even the game they lost) how will they react. I like the Tigers to complete the perfect season, win the title, and most of all beat that small number. That’s the chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your glove’s up!

Behind enemy lines on Wild Card Sunday

Yo this is Nicky and no two ways about it we simply got whacked yesterday as the dogs refused to bark for us despite both of them halving a halftime lead. So we’ve got to get back on track on the back nine so let’s get to it. In the early game on Sunday I’m not going to continue to ride the dog horse even though she’s bucked me twice as once I got the extra ½ point with the Falcons to make it 3.5 I think even if they lose on the field, which they may not do, it will be a close one and this covers us for overtime as well. These two teams statistically are the most even of any two in the first round of playoffs in almost every category and if the give the GMen a field goal for home field advantage, then taking the number still makes sense. Even though the dirty birds are going outside it’s not going to be too cold in Jersey (40 degrees) so it won’t have the normal effect. That’s the early morning chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up! Back with the late game shortly.

Behind enemy lines on wild card weekend.

Yo, this is Nicky, and we’re coming off a victory in the Rose Bowl and we also played a round robin for the first and hit that as well as the over was done by the end of the first half. Now it’s winning time in the NFL as Wild Card Weekend is upon us. In the early game I love the Bengals (+4.5 buy the hook) as this is not a battle of backup quarterbacks as Dalton has a full season under his belt as the main man and Yates will get a rude introduction to playoff football. Andre Johnson is back but not 100% and the Texans will be forced to get it on the ground against a good Bengal defense.

In the second game, call me crazy but I am going to take the huge lumber (11.5) and the Lions. That Saint defense has now been notorious for giving up huge yards, and points, and it’s not because they’re always winning by a lot, they just have some serious holes (258 pass, 108 rush). I know Detroit gives up a ton as well but back in the confines of a dome stadium the Lions will score enough to keep this close and dare I say, win it on the field. That’s a wild cup o’chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up!

Time to go bowlin'

Yo this is Nicky and a Happy New Year to everyone I hope we’re all rested and ready to take on the best of the bowl season and the NFL playoffs so let’s get to it. In the Grand Daddy tonight you’ve got the “three yards and a cloud of dust” of Wisconsin vs. the relentless hurry up offense of the Ducks and which style will dominate the other. Simply saying “Speed Kills” and the Badgers can train all they want to but it can’t prepare them for what they’re going to see tonight. LSU was the beneficiary of countless turnovers or the Ducks would be playing next week. I like the Ducks -4. I was also looking at the over in this game 73 which may even be a better play. I normally don’t hit a game two different ways but that’s not a bad round robin, going Oregon, Over, and then parlaying those two together. That’s the first bowl of chowder for the year. I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up!
