Behind Enemy Lines in NCAA Hoops

Yo, this is Nicky and we’re 2-0 our last two in college hoops and 1-0 in the Association so let’s keep the mo’ going. In the Pac-10 on Saturday I like UCLA (-2 buy the hook) to hold serve at home and get their share of the Pac-10 title. I know Arizona worked them last time out at McCale the Bruins have won 6 of 7 with the only loss coming in OT at Cal. Howland’s got the Burins in tournament form and this is a school that coming off 3 straight Final Fours has been insignificant and wants to get back in the spotlight. Needless to say a win Saturday against a top ten opponent completes their resume to not only get into the dance but get out of that 8-9 death game and avoid Duke in the 2nd round. That’s the chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your glove’s up!

Behind Enemy Lines in the NBA

Yo, This is Nicky and I’m ready to get jump back into the fray that is the NBA, as I see a trend that could be fool’s gold. In the late game I like the Lakers (-2) vs. the Trail Blazers. I know all about the Laker woes at the Rose Garden, where they are 1-9 but so do the Lakers and no one let’s them live it down. Moreover they are revived since the All-Star break, and 9-2 on the second leg of back-to-back games. Add into the fact that Roy may not go and if he does he will not be 100% and that will make the difference. The Blazers are just too small to contend with the LA size. Take the Lakers and when you speak of me, speak of me well. That’s the chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up!

Behind Enemy lines mid-week in the NCAA

Yo this is Nicky and coming off a win yesterday in college hoops we’re looking to keep the mo’ going so let’s get to it. In the war that is the Big East Conference where 9 schools are separated by 3 wins, it seems like home court makes all the difference and I like Cincinnati (+2.5) to defend their home court against The Ville’ and return to the form that had them at 15-0 at one point during the season. Both teams are 19-6 and it could come down to foul trouble but the Bearcats are 4-6 since going 15-0 and this game means a possible tournament bid and I look for them to be ready to play. Thant’s the Mid-Week chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring, and keep your gloves up!

Behind Enemy lines in College Basketball

Yo, this is Nicky and now that the NFL is over we’ll need to find new action and prior to the big dance I’m ready to step into the sox hops to get ready. Tuesday in the Big-Ten the OSU Buckeyes are coming off their first loss of the season at the hands of Wisconsin and I do think they’ll bounce back against Michigan State as they return home. However I also believe the Spartans shoot the 3-point ball entirely too well for them to get smoked by 12.5 so I’m going to take the big points with Michigan State (+13 buy the hook) as they go on the road and take on the #3 Buckeyes. That’s the early week chowder, I’m Nicky, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up!

Behind Enemy Lines on Super Bowl Sunday

Well after months in the trenches we’ve finally come to the end of a long road. At the beginning of the season we set the bar very high based on our record last year and I’m proud to say despite that terrible start we hit just over 70% of our picks this season (71.35%) and I hope you spoke of me well as you were toasting. Ok, I’m getting a sore shoulder from patting myself on the back so let’s get to desert, which is the Super Bowl.
On Super Sunday I am going to take the Pittsburgh Steelers (+3.5 buy the Hook) in a game that should be very close, unless the top-rated defense in the NFL finds a way to stop the rookie from running like he has in his two previous playoff games then it could be ugly for Green Bay. All stats go out the window for the Bowl as with 2 weeks to prepare most teams can completely scheme a game plan to get them through 60 minutes but I like the way Pitt has been playing lately winners of 8 of 9 and may have had their bad game in the AFC Championship game. The Pack have also hit their stride in the playoffs and are winners of five straight but a 4th consecutive road win seems to be where the breaking point comes although I’d like to seem them put the whole “Favre legend” to rest, but it’s not going to happen today.
That’s the final bowl of chowder, I’m Nicky, thanks for taking the ride, stay in the ring and keep your gloves up! And I’ll be back for the NBA next week!
